WMSC # 116

Happy Saturday Everyone!!!
It's been a super, super busy week at work with parent meetings and teacher-student-parent development discussion meetings in the evenings so I'm so, so glad it is finally Saturday! The only thing I have booked for today is a gym class so hopefully I'll get some crafting time in the afternoon - just keep my fingers crossed my mojo isn't gone - something which often happens when I'm tired or actually have time to craft (-; !
I think it was the terrible autumn weather that we have here at the moment, that inspired me to make a summery sunshine card for my sample for the Waltzing Mouse Stamps Sketch challenge this week.

I really enjoyed working with this sketch by no one other than the super sweet and super talented Claire Brennan:

For wonderful inspiration from the rest of the Mischief Makers and some of the DT's and for all the info you need for participating and your chance to win a full set of WMS of your choice go straight HERE!

Guest Designing for A Blog Named Hero part 2

Hi Everyone!
I'm here with a new post for A blog Named Hero and a little tutorial for how to make wonderful fabric flowers from your (or Grandma's if you're not as old as I am (-; ) old curtains. I think these flowers are perfect for cardmaking because they get paper/cardstock qualities while still having the beautiful texture of fabric.

Start by cutting out the flowers you want to use. If you want a fringy, shabby finish cut them exactly the way you want them now, but if you want crisp sharp edges cut around the flowers and save the exact cutting till later.

Make a bowl of sugar water by mixing one cup of water with one tablespoon of suguar. Make sure the sugar has desolved completely (if you want to speed up the process - use hot water ) before you soak your flowers in the mixture.

When your flowers are soaked it is time to iron them. The sugar mixture isn't kind to your iron so make sure you use the "craft-iron". You will still want to cover your ironing board with some cotton towels and have onother towel between the flowersand your iron.

Iron till the flowers are dry and stiff.

For my sample card I stamped and embossed the bg with Hero Arts Magical Background. The sentiment is from the set; Congrats.

Have a wonderful day, hugs, Karin

WMSC # 113

Now that I'm back at work again it feels like it was Saturday yesterday - it's scary how the days litterally fly by. The good thing though is that I get to introduce a new sketch at the Waltzing Mouse Stamps Sketch challenge  (-:.

This week we have a great sketch from our super talented Mischief Maker and coordinator Lynn Mercurio:

For wonderful inspiration from the rest of the Mischief Makers and some of the DT's and for all the info you need for participating and your chance to win a full set of WMS of your choice go straight HERE!

I was inspired to try the Gallon/Quart/Pint concept introduced to me at Moxie Fab Worlds Card Design Handbook week  It suggests that you use a lot of one color (brown), a little less of another (white), and a small dose of the final color (red). Also I used the Tuesday Trigger picture from Moxie Fab World  for further inspiration - I picked up on the brown polkadots, the lace, the hexagon shapes and the flower patterns.

For my card I used Waltzing Mouse Stamps from Half Pint Heroines and Chicken Wire. The patterned papers I used are from Simple Stories.
I'm entering it for the "Anything goes" challenge at Simon says Stamp challenge too.

Have a great day, hugs, Karin!
